The Works of Plato: A New and Literal Translation, chiefly from the text of Stallbaum. Bohn's Classical Library. 5 Volumes by Cary, Henry; Davis, Henry; and Burges, George. Price: $100.00

These 5 volumes are a complete set of the works of Plato, including eight works not found (see below) in the Hamilton and Cairns’ Plato: The Collected Dialogues, 1985, twelfth printing, Princeton University Press. While some may dispute whether these eight works are really part of the works of Plato, it is better to have access to them than not.

Eight Works Not Found

  • The Banquet
  • First Alcibiades
  • Second Alcibiades
  • Theages
  • The Rivals
  • Hipparcus
  • Minos
  • Clitophro

This Bohn edition of the Works of Plato predates the Jowett translation and it is interesting to compare the different translations.
