McCabe, Joseph

Key to Culture (in 40 volumes)

E. Haldemna- Julius

Girard, KS

Quoted  from P. 5 of McCabe's 8 volume Key to Love and Sex.

"In the forty volumes of the Key to Culture, which I have just completed, I have given something more than an outline of all our wonderful modern knowledge. They contain in addition all the facts and truths --- that is to say, inferences from or interpretations of facts ---which it is desirable for every thoughtful person to know. The reader who has assimilated the contents of these volumes has a clever and firm attitude toward life as a whole, which is the chief requirement of a well-informed mind: a chart of reality into which he can fit whatever new knowledge he acquires. I trust that he has far more than this, but the general aim of this course of instruction required that we should not enlarge very much on any particular section, yet there are, obviously, certain aspects or problems of life about which every thoughtful reader will feel the need of a much deeper and broader study than we have been able to give in summary volumes. There are certain strands of the developing life of the race which have for most of us an absorbing interest, yet they appeared only occasionally in our pages, and it must have been tantalizing to the reader, as it certainly was to the author, that we had to notice them so briefly in order to preserve the balance of the general plan."
