Ingersoll, Robert

The Gods and Other Lectures

D. M. Bennett

New York

I conducted a WorldCat search on November 21, 2012 and there is no library in the world that has a copy of this 1877 edition.

This book is a scarce reprint of some "Orations" of Robert G. Ingersoll.

In a "Notice to the Reader" the publisher informs us that the contents of this book "are the original Orations as delivered by Col. Robert G. Ingersoll, and which were published separately in pamphlet form. They are here, also, as they appeared in the columns of The Truth Seeker."

The contents of this work include the following:

Oration on the Gods: An honest God is the noblest work of man. 60 pages.

Oration on Thomas Paine: With his name left out the history of Liberty cannot be written. 31 pages.

Arraignment of the Church, or Individuality: His soul was like a star and dwelt apart. 22 pages.

Heretics and Heresies: Liberty, a word without which all other words are vain. 32 pages.

Oration on Humboldt: The universe is governed by laws. 16 pages.
