Peter Bayle’s Historical and Critical Dictionary
Philosophical Services has now published an electronic edition of Bayle's Historical and Critical Dictionary. Bayle's Historical and Critical Dictionary was originally published in 1734-38 for J. J. P. Knapton et al, in 5 volumes. All five volumes are now ready for sale in either a Standard Edition or a Deluxe Edition.

The Standard Edition of Bayle's Historical and Critical Dictionary is published in Adobe PDF® format; that is, each page of each volume has been scanned and then each volume is saved as a PDF file. The Deluxe Edition of Bayle’s Historical and Critical Dictionary is also saved in PDF format but it is also searchable. Each volume has been run through an OCR (Optical Character Recognition) program, so a complete copy of the text of the book is saved underneath the PDF file, and this renders each volume searchable. In order to ensure the greatest accuracy of the OCR program, the 143 page index of Volume 5 was first used to create a custom dictionary of all the names, places, and subjects in the index.
